The Chef
Chef Ricardo Cardoso is a native of Porto, the city where he graduated in cooking at the Escola de Hotelaria do Porto. He began his career at the Hotel Meridien Porto in 1996, but quickly decided to collect different inspirations and knowledge in prestigious kitchens both inside and outside his hometown. Esposende, Aveiro, Vidago and Mozambique were some of the places that received our chef, always accompanied by distinctive and indispensable professionals for his growth.
In 2017 he accepts the challenge of heading the kitchen of Barão Fladgate Restaurant, where he was entrusted with all the freedom to create, innovate and surprise through his rich gastronomy with character.
For 4 years he has given us his passion and curiosity, which he transmits to his dedicated and
exclusive team. Together they seek to highlight the best of Portugal, combining traditional flavours with the most refined of classic international cuisine.
In the end, it could only result in a happy combination of flavours.
The Restaurant
Barão Fladgate Restaurant enjoys a spectacular location and atmospheric setting in the grounds of Taylor’s Port cellars with magnificent views across the Douro River to the old historic centre of Porto. It offers a contemporary interpretation of traditional cuisine where the accent is on fresh local ingredients and on showcasing the authentic flavours of Portugal.
The wine list features a wide variety of labels from the main Portuguese vineyard areas and, as would be expected, a comprehensive choice of both wood-aged and Vintage Ports.
Named after John Fladgate, the celebrated 19th century Port shipper and partner of Taylor’s who was awarded the title of Baron for his services to viticulture, the Barão Fladgate restaurant celebrates 20 years of inspiring fine cuisine and excellent service.
